Shannan King believes that true wellbeing is achieved through inspiration, knowledge, and personal commitment. 

Shannan has a deep passion for biomechanics with a training style that motivates her clients to uncover their strengths and strive for self-improvement. She is a certified Personal Trainer through AFPA since 2001. Shannan graduated with a BS in Psychology from the University of San Francisco and then completed her MS in Exercise Physiology at Cal Poly Pomona, combining her background in psychology with fitness.

Shannan is a Pilates instructor, certified through the Long Beach Dance Conditioning Center in Southern California. Shannan specializes in improving and strengthening postural imbalances with corrective exercises to boost performance and/or alleviate pain. "I enjoy being able to offer another form of exercise for those who enjoy cross-training and for those in need of flexibility and injury rehabilitation."

Pilates is a safe, yet challenging way to develop a strong, balanced core. Core strength is an important part of an exercise program because a body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured.

By emphasizing proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on fluid movements, Pilates elongates and strengthens muscles, improving flexibility and joint health.

Pilates is a method of exercise that is therapeutic for all bodies. It is gentle because many of the postures are in a reclining or lying down position, and exercises can be modified for beginner to advanced students.

In 2010 Shannan began her study of various massage techniques (Craniosacral therapy, Myofascial release, Compressive Deep Tissue & Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) at Calcopa Massage School in Huntington Beach, Ca. Shannan saw that movement alone was not enough to create balance and strength in the body. Throughout your Pilates workouts she is constantly determining which muscles need massage work to promote muscular flexibility and joint stability in the body. Bodywork is a most important part of the Pilates session.
